SPARRINGTON LOGGITY.

Breaking into Norrington's apartment was absurdly easy. Jack was a natural lockpick, a brilliant strategic mastermind, and James was bloody predictable. Even the furniture was exactly where Jack expected it to be, never mind the booze.

In their long ago Starfleet days, Jack had always been able to count on James for a drink, if nothing else. Well, if nothing else included stealing and copying his homework, that was. It was good to know that the man hadn't changed that much, despite his newer and decidedly more amusing bitter streak.

Jack remembered quite fondly the promising young man the commander had been. He wasn't entirely sure what had happened in the intervening years - Jack had been off captaining his own ship, gaining his own adventures - but something must have happened. Not that Jack cared too deeply, but it was something to ponder as he poured himself a glass of alcohol that was a bit more refined than his usual tastes. He could have gotten something from the replicator, but it was never quite as good as the real thing.

He'd left the lights off, not particularly caring that he was walking around in the dark. He settled comfortably a chair, cocktail in hand, facing the doorway. He wasn't waiting for James, he told himself, as much as taking a much needed vacation from his ship. In James' room. Whilst stealing James' liquor. In the dark.

Perfectly reasonable. And if his internal clock was set to Norrington's schedule correctly, the man would be arriving home in just under ten minutes. He smirked into his glass before taking a nice, long sip.
